Why did you choose to work in public media?
This year, as Current marks the 50th anniversary of the Public Broadcasting Act, we are illuminating the experiences that inspired people to choose to work in public media ( Every week we'll share stories using the hashtag #IAmPublicMedia.

One writer said that after discovering Terry Gross during a difficult time, he was inspired to join public media and work to bring a wider range of voices to the air. Another found his roots in punk music on a community radio station and now aspires to help others discover themselves.

Writers draw from personal experiences to explain why they choose to work in public media. Please don’t log your work history.
