Summer 1,000 Minute Book Reading Challenge!
After our assembly on literacy last week, our vice-principal, Miss Carolina Ossa, decided she wanted to challenge Villa Maria Academy Elementary students this summer!

Your challenge is to read 20 minutes every day this summer.   She is hoping that students will have read for at least 1,000 minutes before coming back to school next year.

1,000 minutes for the summer = 100 minutes per week for the 10 weeks of break.

If students read 20 minutes for at least 5 days of the week, they should have no problem reaching their 1,000 minute goal.

Students may read books, magazines, or newspapers in English or Spanish.

Students that meet their goal by the start of the school year have a chance to earn:

1) Special recognition at a summer reading celebration assembly at the start of the 2015 school year.

2) A surprise for the class that read the most minutes.

3) A special, top secret award for students that read 2,000 minutes in the summer.

To get started, just print a reading log or create your own!
