For many creatives, the new normal brings new ways of creating. That's why we are venturing into the world of digital media while adapting to the new normal. In collaboration with Filamen, George Town Festival is set to turn a micro version of George Town into a tech-powered, story-telling beauty in its virtual projection mapping installation programme, “Lights On”!
But first, we are seeking local and international tech-savvy artists, designers, and creative geniuses for our virtual residency programme. The virtual residency programme is a gathering of artists who will work in sync, support one another and use this change of pace to think and create differently. It embodies the idea of making arts accessible to all, regardless of age, ethnicity, or background, as well as providing opportunities for more people to experience the arts in their communities. The virtual residency programme will run for one month under the guidance of professional advisors and curators. The selected residency artists will be required to take part in a sharing session which will be held alongside the virtual exhibition in July this year.
So don't miss the opportunity to turn the micro version of George Town into a story-telling display of colours, lights and sounds. If you think you can connect viewers to the city's diverse cultural and historical landscapes through cutting-edge visual spectacle, then submit your portfolio to join our virtual residency programme. Each applicant may choose to participate in the programme as an individual or in a group. Only six (6) applicants will be selected. Each participant / group will be awarded with a RM1,000 (One Thousand Ringgit Malaysia Only) stipend.
