About
Recovery is often lost in headlines that focus on the tragic impact of alcohol and drug addiction. But most people can, will and do recover with the right treatment and support. Recovery is a process, and there may be setbacks along the way. But each step brings people closer to a new beginning.

The BDN's Maine Focus initiative is drawing people together who want to support those who are recovering or seeking to recover from addiction, so they know they’re not alone. Whether you've experienced addiction directly or not, please submit a written piece (no more than 800 words) or a short video explaining what recovery means to you. Send a positive message of support and hope.
Guidelines
Here’s how to make your Recovery Project video:

1. Please submit just one video.

2. You will need either a Facebook or a YouTube account. If you don’t have a YouTube account already, go to www.youtube.com/create_account. For Facebook, go to www.facebook.com.

3. You can use your smartphone or computer webcam to take a video. Make sure there’s no background noise and that you can be heard clearly.

4. Ensure your face is well lighted. No dark shadows, please.

5. When uploading to YouTube or Facebook, make sure the title of the video is "The Recovery Project," and tag details about the video, so people can find it. (For example: Michael in Portland, Maine.)

6. The video should be labeled “public."

7. This is your chance to share a hopeful message. Be heartfelt. Show your support for those who might need it. You might save a life.

8. If you or someone you know needs help, or you’d like to mention a resource, consider 211, which anyone can dial to offer or receive health and human services in Maine.
