Students apply to SOC as part of a team. A team consists of 3-5 middle school students entering (6-8th grade), ages 11-14 and an adult project advisor. Your team members can be from the same school or different schools as long as you work together on one project. Your team will create a science or conservation project (with the help of your advisor) and have the school year to complete it. This is an opportunity to learn while having fun and make a difference in your local community!
All the students on the team need to commit to attend all monthly meetings at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, participate in all monthly field experiences and complete their community project. Project advisors supervise the team conservation projects which are separate from the SOC meetings and field experiences.
Applications are due by **April 14, 2014** and accepted teams will be notified via e-mail by April 28, 2014. If your team is accepted there is an enrollment fee of $175.00 per student for Aquarium members or $250.00 per student for non-members. Need based scholarships may be available.
