Following the conference theme of WPA-ing through Risk and Failure, we call for interested colleagues to submit a proposal for either our session on failure or on risk. Proposals should briefly describe what they plan to present upon, outlining the reflection on or evaluation of "processes, experiences, and performances" that shape this understanding of a writing program risk or failure.
To complete your proposal, we request
- Your email
- Your name
- Whether you want to present in the risk or failure session
- Whether your presentation is solo or co-authored
- (if applicable) Whether you want to co-present or present the co-authored piece to separate groups
- A max 150-word summary of your proposed presentation
- And a final question for conference planning: do you anticipate needing hotel accommodations
Two notes on selecting your session:
- Individuals may submit to both the risk and failure session if desired; proposals should be distinct.
- We recognize risk and failure overlap. Your presentation does not need to only speak to your selected session's focus, rather choose the session that aligns with the concept you will foreground: risk or failure.
Proposals will be evaluated in through double-blind peer-review, in terms of
- Relevance: how fitting the proposal is to the modified protocol focus and conference audience
- Resonance: how likely it seems the proposal will inspire lively discussion and critical reflection
- Range: how well the proposal brings something new to the conference conversation
- Rubric Failure: what a scorer wants to say about a proposal, but the above elements do not permit
