Reuse & Recycling Volunteer Application
3-Month Waitlist. Come volunteer with us! We are focusing on bringing in those in our community who are often left out, not considered and not given opportunities for volunteer roles, interning roles, and jobs. Black, Indigenous, PoC, low-income, those with disabilities, elderly, parents, and previously incarcerated. It’s important that when we welcome folks into FG to help support us we return that support through teaching skills and giving work tools to help benefit them as they go into the workplace.
Equity and justice are at the core of our volunteer program. When we partner with volunteers we do so with the intention and expectation that volunteers are also practicing viewing the world around them with a lens that includes all voices as opposed to excluding them. Together we are creating the community we want to be.
Volunteer opportunities are limited due to COVID-19 but we are accepting new applications.
Currently a 3 months waitlist. Warehouse positions will be 6-8 weeks with a minimum of 8 hours a week. These shifts will focus on sorting incoming donations for reuse potential and recycling as well as manually deconstructing desktop computers and related devices into components for recycling. Volunteers will often work independently on these tasks in the warehouse. All Free Geek volunteer opportunities take place in Portland, OR.
