Thank you for your interest in Summer Camp Create! Junior Counselors play an important leadership role in helping create a fun, inclusive, and enriching experience for our campers. As a Junior Counselor, you’ll support a small group of campers throughout the day and help foster a positive, energetic, and creative camp environment.
Responsibilities may include assisting Teaching Artists with art activities, participating in games and group activities, supporting campers, and helping prepare materials for projects.
We welcome junior counselor applications from rising 9th–12th graders. Ideal candidates are dependable, enthusiastic, flexible, and eager to engage positively with campers. Strong leadership skills are important. An interest in visual arts is wonderful but not required. We’re looking for positive role models who enjoy being outdoors and are excited to jump into all aspects of camp.
Junior Counselors are a vital part of our camp community. For this reason we ask that you commit to the full week you are scheduled. Daily hours are 8:45 AM–3:15 PM. If your schedule changes, we'll need to know as soon as possible.
Artscope is a tech-free environment. Phones should be kept in staff cubbies or backpacks. They may be checked during breaks but otherwise should remain put away so we can be fully present with campers.
We are happy to provide documentation of service hours. Please let us know prior to the summer so we can help you keep track of them. We are also happy to provide letters of recommendation and job references, as requested.
