Thanks for your interest in joining us at Freeform Portland! Please read the following before filling out your show application.

Freeform Portland has a new physical studio and we are excited to share it with you! DJs at Freeform have the option of pre-recording their show, streaming from home (with the proper equipment) or live from our studio near Mount Tabor in Portland, Oregon.
Freeform Portland is an all volunteer-run community radio station that broadcasts music presented by live DJs in Portland, Oregon at 90.3 FM and 98.3 FM as well as at
https://www.freeformportland.org. Our shows run two hours each, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Freeform Portland seeks to provide an authentic and inclusive space for DJs of all musical expressions and identities. This includes the active prioritization of programming by and for historically marginalized voices in radio, including members of our women/femme, Black, Indigenous and People of Color, LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent communities. We aim to educate and empower our all-volunteer community through DJ training, unconventional music programming, and opportunities for skill development. We are music enthusiasts, crate-diggers, artists, and advocates. At Freeform Portland, our vision is to inspire and give a voice to all of Portland’s diverse communities.
We periodically create a new schedule, giving new volunteers a chance to have a show and current DJs a chance to move their time slot. It is important to note that no DJ “owns” their time slot-- scheduling is determined by volunteer availability and engagement. The more hours you dedicate to the station outside of your show, the more likely it is that you will receive your preferred time.
IF YOU ARE A CURRENT DJ OR VOLUNTEER: All current volunteers are required to submit a new application to be part of the next cycle. Before you fill out this form, make sure that your volunteer hours are up to date! You can enter volunteer hours and view past hours at
https://admin.freeformportland.org. If you have any questions, please check out the FAQs or email
programming@freeformportland.org.
IF YOU ARE NEW TO FREEFORM PORTLAND: Welcome! In addition to applying for a show, please visit
http://www.freeformportland.org/about/volunteer/ to learn more about the station and about how to get more involved! DJs are expected to volunteer, on average, 5 hours a month to keep their show. You do not need to be a current volunteer or DJ to apply, but it may limit the time slots available to you. DJs are also expected to participate in on-air fundraisers, which typically take place once every 6 months. DJs must have access to email and the internet in order to receive station communications. For more information please check out our FAQs at
https://www.freeformportland.org/new-dj-faqs/ or email
programming@freeformportland.org.
Volunteers will review show applications and prospective DJs will be contacted to confirm their shows and to schedule training. If you plan on doing your show from the physical studio, this training will be in person with a group of 3-7 other DJs. If you are planning on doing your show from home as a live remote session or pre-recorded, online (Zoom) training options will be available. There will be multiple sessions available so that you can find something that works for you and sessions will be recorded for those that cannot attend.
If you are signing up for a show with a co-host DJ, please apply together on one application and use the "Co-DJ" fields.
