World News Day is a global media industry campaign led by the World Editors Forum of WAN-IFRA, Branko Brkic’s Project Kontinuum, and the Canadian Journalism Foundation. Each year on 28 September, it unites newsrooms worldwide to show the power and impact of journalism.
The campaign invites editors to spotlight journalism that makes a real difference, especially for the audiences who depend on it most.
Since 2018, World News Day has grown steadily. In 2024, over 800 newsrooms around the world took part.
Now, with trust in media more vital than ever, we're aiming even higher for 2025 — and we’d love for you to join us.
Participating newsrooms receive ready-to-use campaign materials, including video, ads, and op-eds.
