Competition
There are 3 organizations with existing databases of national and personal records. These are the databases for
AIDA,
CMAS and
FCOA.
FCOA has leveled the playing flied for athletes meaning that if you privately set a factual National Record and you have if filmed properly according the FCOA
video verification rules then an FCOA JUDGE will investigate the performance and cross check it against the 3 existing databases. If your performance indeed is a National Record, then it will get published as a factual National Record on the
FCOA National Record Setters database accompanied with your performance video to let the facts speak for themselves. There is no cost to the service. This means that any kid with a bucket can get himself filmed doing Static Apnea and possible set a National Record for his country.
Competition Protocol.
The rules during competitions vary per agency and change over time. No matter what agency you are from, when you are a guest at a competition you should follow the protocol of that particular competition. Here a list of some of the possible competition rules:
- You should stay in front of the judges 1 hour before your performance to proof that you're not using performance enhancing drugs or oxygen.
- You should have no snorkel in the mouth during the performance
- For CWT and CNF you should not touch the rope in a way that gives you an advantage
- You may pull the rope only one time when you're turning around to go back up
- Up on surfacing to not get disqualified, your head should remain out of the water without anyone touching or assisting you.
- Within 15 seconds after surfacing, you must take off all your facial wear and say "I'm Ok"
