The Disability Action Hall made a tool to help Albertans think about what a disability benefit needs to include. We based the questions from
Model 1 & 2, prepared by the Parliamentary Office Report (November 16th, 2023), page 3

The Canada Disability Benefit should be a top-up to social assistance. The amount needs to be indexed every year

The benefit should be based on an individual's net income (before tax), not family income or household income and be tax-free.
More information: Carla Qualtrough, the former Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Disability Inclusion, have said the CDB will be similar to the
Guaranteed Income Supplement.
The GIS pays a fixed monthly benefit amount based on your level of income and relationship status. In 2023 the GIS cut off after $21,168 if you are single, widowed or divorced. GIS also considers the income of you and your spouse or common law partner.
