2018 Tribal Youth Health Policy Fellowship: Youth Application
The National Indian Health Board (NIHB) now invites applications for the 2018 Tribal Youth Health Policy Fellowship!

The National Indian Health Board will be seating the second cohort of Fellows. The cohort will consist of 12 Native youth from around the country to engage throughout the year in Indian health policy and programming efforts. The Fellows will engage in Indian health policy solutions, tell their personal story, and advocate for changes in the healthcare and public health systems important to their Tribal communities. The Fellowship provides youth with key opportunities for relationship- and skills-building that allows them to return home feeling empowered, connected to other Native youth, and well equipped to be the next generation of advocates for Indian health.

To be eligible for the NIHB's Tribal Youth Health Policy Fellowship, Native youth applicants:

• Must be a member of a federally recognized Indian Tribe
• Must be between the ages of 18-24
• Must submit a completed adult recommendation form AND a Tribal leader letter of support
• Must show qualities of leadership and be actively engaged in their Tribal community through either school, community organizations, or other roles.
• Must show qualities of integrity and are expected to be in good standing with their academic institution or place of employment.
• Must be prepared to represent themselves, their Tribe, NIHB, and the cohort of fellows with honor and respect at a national level.
• Must be able and willing to participate in related projects and activities relevant to the fellowship
• Must have access to a phone and email account for monthly communications with NIHB staff
• Reside on or near his/her Tribal reservation. While there is no mileage limit on distance from the reservation, NIHB encourages youth who have grown up immersed in Tribal culture, government, and community to apply.
