Fall 2013 Supplemental Instruction Leader Application

You must agree to all of the following statements to be considered for the position.

We will also need at least one recommendation from a MSU Denver professor. Instructions will be given after you submit the application.

    What is Supplemental Instruction?

    ● Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an academic assistance program that is designed to increase student performance and retention ● Supplemental Instruction provides regularly scheduled, out-of-class, peer-facilitated sessions for 1000/2000 level courses ● The SI Leader is attached to specific First Year Success (FYS) learning community courses to provide students with an interactive, systematic, and disciplined approach for processing the subject material assigned by the professor

    SI Leader Requirements for Employment:

    ● An overall G.P.A. of 3.0 or above (on a 4.0 scale) is required ● Junior or senior standing is preferred; sophomores may apply however preference will go to those who have participated in the FYS program ● You must have received a B or better in the courses for which you are interested in being an SI Leader (or have approval of faculty to be an SI Leader for the course) ● Need to be enrolled in 6 or more credit hours for the semester you want to be employed ● Requires a 10 hour per week commitment ● Attend all staff trainings and meeting throughout the semester

    Availability Statement:

    ● Approximately 10 hours per week (2.5 hours-in class, 1-3 one-hour SI sessions, 4.5 hours flex time as agreed upon by supervisor) ● Attend Fall 2013 SI Training *August 5th & 6th, 8am-5pm ● Attend New Student Convocation *August 15th, 9am - 3pm ● Attend all SI Meetings (Times will be determined at training) *August 23rd *September 20th *October 18th *November 15th
