In general, work hours are determined by the season and workload. We do our best to maintain a sustainable work schedule, aiming for an average of 50 hours per week. This includes an hour for lunch each day. Please note that hours fluctuate depending on time of season and the weather. Depending on the needs of the farm, interns may be expected to work longer days during busier months.
Educational Opportunities: An intern curriculum will be provided and followed to ensure interns are achieving core competencies and meeting their personal goals throughout the season. Wellspring is also a member of CRAFT (Collaborative Regional Alliance for Farmer Training), FairShare and WLFN. Interns gain access to the benefits of these regional networks of over 75 farms, representing a wide diversity of farming practices and scales of operation. Other learning opportunities include participation in Wellspring's education classes which may include Home Gardening and Cooking classes; an Intern Garden Plot where experiments are encouraged. (All after work or as the regular farm schedule permits.)
Stipend: $500/month, veggies from the farm and many other staples are provided.
Meals: Lunch is eaten together with the farm team two days/week with interns each taking one day, every other week to prepare the meal. Basic staples and kitchen space are provided for other meals. Eggs provided by small flock of hens.
Housing: Each employee has a bedroom. Kitchen, bathrooms and living space are shared with other farm team members.
