St. Francis by the Sea Altar Server Application
Being an altar server is a great service to the Church.  It helps children grow in skill, confidence, and it is a very important ministry that involves commitment.  It is also a lot of fun, because the servers belong to a special team!  If you are in grades 3-11 and are not an altar server, but would like to be, please complete the form below.  Once the Parish Office receives your application, an altar server training session will be scheduled.

The Mission
The principle function of the Altar Server is to assist the Bishop or priest at the celebration of the Eucharist, to bring the sacred vessels to the altar at the presentation of the gifts, and to minister the wine and water for the presider.
The Commitment
- To serve as schedule or to find a replacement - "No Shows" disrespect the Liturgy.
- Dress properly (i.e. no tennis shoes or sneakers)
- Arrive 15 minutes prior to the beginning of Mass.
- Encourage and assist other servers as needed.
- Set an example for the entire congregation by participating in the Eucharist.
- Take appropriate care of the cassock and surplice that you wear.
