At Discourse Power, students are our top priority. We offer speech and debate programs for youth, fostering critical thinking and communication skills. We emphasize building confidence gradually through structured practice and supportive feedback. We don't just teach competitive tactics, but we foster critical thinking, research skills, and intellectual curiosity that will serve students not only in their academic careers but also in their future professional and personal lives. Discourse Power understands the needs of our students and their families, which is why we offer various speech and debate coaching options (in-person and online). Our in-person classes occur from the Mountain House location at the following address.

Payment:  Our program is the most cost effective program in Northern California, with almost unlimited tournament prep for debate tournaments. We do offer the flexibility to pay in installments.  For Debate program, the first installment is due when signing up for the program. The second installment is due 30 days after the program starts, and the final and third installment is due 60 days after the program begins. 

Rates are prorated if a student joins the sessions in the middle of the program. Batches start each month. No additional charges for tournament prep. Typically 3 to 4 tournaments in a semester

Fall In-Person Debate Classes, Novice (Grades 6-9)

Debate classes are for Novices (with no experience or less than one year of experience in debate) in grades 6-9.  9th graders with no experience should enroll in this Novice class.  Offered at MTN House location15-Week program, 1.5 hours each week. Supplemental hours (10 to 14 hours) will also be available in addition to instructional hours (with no additional charge) for combined tournament prep and offline help. 

The class will focus on thoughtful and logical construction of written cases, understanding the order and structure of a debate, and building confidence in delivering speeches (including rebuttals) through drills, practices, advanced strategies, and constructive feedback. The debate format is either Lincoln Douglas (L/D) or Public Forum. Debate is an excellent activity that enhances your ability to communicate effectively, think critically, and research arguments as they do in the academic realm. A minimum of four student enrollment is required—a maximum of 10 students in class.  In-person class takes place in Mountain House at 19669 Mountain House Pkwy, Mountain House. Rates are prorated if a student joins in the middle of the program. Batches start each month.

No class during school's spring break (Mar 31-April 6). Tournament Prep is included. 

Fall In-Person Debate Classes (Varsity), Grades 10-12
Debate classes for Varsity, Grades 10-12 
9th graders with one or more years of debate experience can enroll in this class. The class will focus on thoughtful and logical construction of written cases, understanding a debate's order and structure, building confidence in delivering speeches (including rebuttals), and applying advanced strategies. Many drills, practices, and discussions on strategies for each speech occur. Students get constructive feedback. Students can select any option from the two debate formats: Lincoln Douglas (L/D) and Public Forum(P/F).  Offered at MTN House location15-week program, 1.5 hours each week.  No class during school's spring week (Mar 31-April 6). Tournament fees are always additional.  In-person class takes place in Mountain House at 19669 Mountain House Pkwy, Mountain House. Supplemental hours (10 to 14 hours) will also be available for no additional charge in addition to instructional hours for combined tournament prep and offline help.

Online Debate Classes, Grades 9-12

The class will focus on thoughtful and logical construction of written cases, understanding a debate's order and structure, building confidence in delivering speeches (including rebuttals), and applying advanced strategies. Students would do drills and watch lectures in class. Students get constructive feedback. Students can select any option from the two debate formats: Lincoln Douglas (L/D) and Public Forum(P/F).  Offered online, 13-Week program, 1.5 hours each week. Supplemental hours (seven to eight hours) will also be available in addition to instructional hours for combined tournament prep and offline help.  No class during school's spring week (Mar 31-April 6).

Online Middle and High School Public Speaking Program.
Grades 6 to 12  

Students will develop fluency and confidence while delivering Impromptu or persuasive speeches in a supportive and encouraging environment. They will do a lot of drills to master the skills required to give confident speeches. The program is a total of 12 hours, spreading into 9 weeks.  Some sessions will be 1.5 hours long.  Students can select either Impromptu or Original Oratory speech as their preferred choice. No class during school's spring break (Mar 30-April 5). A minimum of three enrollments are required to start this program.  Due to the Memorial Day holiday, the last session will be on Wednesday, May 28

9-Week Program with three supplemental hours = Total 12 hours program. 

Six sessions will be 1.5 hours long, and three sessions will be one hour long.

In-Person Elementary School Public Speaking Class. Grades 3-5

Students will learn about public speaking techniques and engage in fun-filled activities such as vocal warm-ups, icebreakers, informative speaking, and Impromptu speaking. By the last week of the program, they will demonstrate their enhanced public speaking skills and present a speech or presentation. Parents are invited to witness their child's growth in the last week of the program. Light homework will be assigned each week. The program's focus is on building confidence and effective communication skills. Six enrollments are required to start, with a maximum of 10 students in the class. In-person class takes place in Mountain House at 19669 Mountain House Pkwy, Mountain House. 

9-Week program, once a week. Total 12 hours including supplemental hours. 

Six sessions will be 1.5 hours long, and three session will be one hour long.
