The purpose of this email is to announce the selection process for the 16-week English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) training course, exclusively for USP Professors - 2025/2.
This 4th EMI course for USP Professors is offered by Aucani– USP International Cooperation Office/ Aucani Idiomas and has the support of FUSP – Fundação de Apoio à Universidade de São Paulo.
About the course:
Enrollment period: from 8am, July 15th to 10pm August 9th, 2025
The course will offer 25 to 30 vacancies.
Announcement of results: Aug 11th,2025 (by email).
Pre week course: Aug, 13th-17th, 2025

About the course:
- Duration: 16-week , from August to December 2025.
- Modality: Fully online and asynchronous, with optional synchronous sessions every two weeks.
- Target audience: USP professors from all campuses.
- Workload: 4 hours of study per week.
- Objective: To provide a theoretical and practical framework to enable teachers to teach classes in English using EMI methods in their areas of specialization.
- Prerequisite: Minimum English level B2/C1 in the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
- Supervision: USP professors at AUCANI, including Dra. Denise Hibarino (UFPR and USP-PPGELLI) and Prof. Dr. Daniel Ferraz (FFLCH).
- Certification: Certificate of completion issued by AUCANI Idiomas. Ohio State University will also offer a Certificate of completion
- Cost: Free of charge.
- In addition, optional synchronous Speaking practice classes will be offered every Friday from 10am to 12pm.
Enrollment period: from 8am, July 15th to 10pm August 9th, 2025

To take part in the selection process, we require:
- Video or audio (3 to 5 minutes): Introduce yourself, state your school/college, department and area of specialization/research.
- Cover letter (1 to 2 pages): Relate your experience in learning the English language and explain how the EMI course will be fundamental to your teaching practices and/or research.
- Submission of materials from 8am, July 15th to 10pm August 9nd, 2025

End date: Dec. 12th, 2025
