Parade Details: 
  •  Bolivar Area Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade Saturday, December 6 at 5:30 pm.
  •  Line-up begins at 2:30 p.m. on the SBU Campus. 
  • There's no fee to enter! 
  • Plaques awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place float winners. 
  • No line-up numbers will be assigned.  Parade participants will be directed to their place in the line-up as they arrive. 
  • The ONLY live Santa in the parade is the official Chamber Santa.  
  • Christmas lights, music, and special effects to help your float shine are strongly encouraged!

Rules and Safety Information:
  • The parade begins after dark.  All entries must be lighted for spectators to see your entry and signage.  The parade route is only lighted by streetlights.
  • For the safety of parade participants, children younger than 10 should not participate as walkers in the parade.  Children younger than 10 years old must ride on a float or in a vehicle.
  • No open flames are allowed on, in, or around any float in the parade.  
  • No smoking on or near floats at any time.
  • Floats must have a designated safety spotter (older than 18) to guide the driver and ensure that riders are always adhering to parade rules. 
  • Anyone operating a motorized vehicle must have a valid Missouri Driver's License and proper insurance.  Risky driving behavior will be ticketed by police.
  • Decorations must not cause safety hazards.  Extension cords, Christmas lights, etc. must be secured to the float.
  • Bolivar Fire Department will inspect all entries that will be using a generator to power lights, music, etc.  They will be checking for proper wiring and exhaust during line-up before the parade begins. 
  • NO CANDY OR GIVEAWAY ITEMS MAY BE TOSSED FROM A VEHCILE OR FLOAT.  Individuals wearing lighted or reflective material may walk alongside your entry to hand out candy and other giveaway items.
  • There will be no stopping during the parade except for an emergency.  Any entry who will actively perform must continue moving.
  • There will be no passing other parade entries.  
  • All parade entries must keep up with the flow of the parade to prevent larger gaps in between entries.
  • If using a snow machine, all snow must be eco-friendly. 
  • All giveaway items must be kid-friendly.
  • Any music played while on the parade route should be Christmas themed and family appropriate.  No foul language will be permitted.  Failure to comply will result in dismissal from the parade route and future parade entries will not be allowed.
  • All parade participants must wear lighted or reflective material during line-up and throughout the parade.  Examples include glow sticks, lighted necklaces, headlamps, reflective tape, or safety belts.
  • The parade committee reserves the right to refuse or remove any entry deemed as creating a safety concern or not adhering to the parade rules.
  • No political flags, stickers, or signage will be allowed.  Current elected officials may participate with signage to identify themselves.
  • No signage or promotion for business items.  You may have signage identifying your business or containing a Christmas message.
  • Know and communicate your parade exit plan with your group.  The parade will end at Bolivar Schools Central Office.
