Over the past few weeks, it seems like all of our lives have been turned upside down by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic. We hope that this finds you healthy and doing well through the challenges that it brings. We also wanted to let you know about some of the changes and preparations we’re making to the UP Project this year.
At this time, we are planning and preparing for our annual summer trip from July 5 – 11 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. However, we know that the situation may change in the future. We will be reassessing the feasibility and safety of the trip continuously as we move closer to the summer. We expect to be able to make a final decision in May.
In addition to monitoring the situation, we are also making some changes to UP Project registration and costs to alleviate some of the financial stress of summer programs.
We are eliminating the $50 early deposit this year required for a full registration. We are also lowering the full cost of the trip to $175 per student (instead of $250). As always, if you are concerned with the cost of the trip, please reach out to us through our website (www.theupproject.org
We’re asking any student who’s interested in going on the UP Project trip, to go ahead and apply for the trip. This will allow us to create a list of everyone interested and update them with the latest information as the trip gets closer.
The mission of the UP Project has always been to create change in students that lasts throughout the year, and not just during our trip. To aid in that goal (and to alleviate some of the tedium of being stuck at home all the time), we’re starting a special project in the coming weeks!
Each week, we’ll be posting a new set of projects and actions that students and families can take to help live out the gospel during uncertain times. So even if you can’t attend services each week, the responsibilities and love of the church continues to be needed especially in trying times.
You can join UP: Quarantine Edition two ways:
1. Sign up for a weekly email
2. Follow us on social media (Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat)
As we continue the work that we’ve been called to, please know that you are loved. May we hold ourselves and each other tenderly as we navigate the coming weeks, knowing that we have been commissioned to encourage and support one another as the Lord supports and encourages us.
May you find reassurance, rest, and blessings even now.
