Bag Purchasing Coop Exploration Survey
The Bring Your Own Bag Ordinance in Cambridge that takes effect April 1, 2016 bans the use of conventional plastic bags and sets more environmentally friendly standards for check out bags with handles that businesses use at point of sale. Businesses will be required to charge consumers a 10 cent fee for any bag provided at the checkout and identify this as the “Checkout Bag Charge” on the receipt. This charge shall be retained by the business.

SBN is considering buying bags in bulk in order to help business owners reduce their costs of switching to more environmentally friendly bags.
