Special Olympics Volunteer Interest Form --Volunteer2Cheer--Spring 2015

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Special Olympics Virginia!

Highlighting the season is the Area 9 Spring Games,Track & Field at Radford University’s Cupp Stadium. It will be held Saturday, April 18th and is an all day event. It is preferred that volunteers help out all day, but there are shifts that you can sign up for below.

Volunteer Positions needed
Escorts = lead the athletes from the event’s staging area to the start line, or from the finish line to the awards area.
Buddies = help one on one with an athlete to ensure that they arrive at their event’s staging area on time. Cheer them on, and make sure they have water and their provided lunch. This is an all day volunteer position, but is very rewarding.
Volunteer 2 Cheer = It is more fun for the athletes to hear the cheers from the stands.
Games management = assist with staging, time keeping, and other duties to run the track meet.

We will also need volunteers to help out with Track and Field practices which will be starting in March. The practices will be held at the Old Blacksburg High school on Patrick Henry Drive. Saturdays, starting March 21 and 28 also April 4 and 11 will meet at 1:45 till 4:00 pm.

Swimming and bowling continue thru April in Blacksburg and Christiansburg. Athletes will compete in a Regional Swim Meet on April 12 and the Unified Softball Teams will start up again on March 31-June 2, 6:30-8:00 pm. Place of practice to be determined. Bowling can always use subs on Thursday nights!

Please use the form below to let us know where you are interested in volunteering. We look forward to working with you.
