2022 Community Garden Compost Request Form
The City of Boston's Public Works Department provides compost to community gardens at no cost.

Submit this form by May 1, 2022 to receive your gardens compost for the 2022 season. Dates for this year’s deliveries have not yet been determined, but all gardens will be notified prior to scheduled delivery. Please be sure to add a contact person to your application so scheduling and the day of delivery can be as efficient as possible.

Compost is a key part of the City's goal of achieving zero waste. Our compost is made from leaf and yard-waste collected locally from Boston residents just like you. Matured compost is given back to Boston's community gardens and parks free of charge, localizing the process.

By using compost instead of commercially purchased fertilizer, you are helping to recycle organic matter, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and helping Boston reach its climate and sustainability goals.

You or another member of your organization MUST make sure that drivers have access to your garden (e.g., gates are not locked, cars are not blocking driveway, etc). If drivers must leave the compost on the sidewalk outside the garden, someone must meet the driver, and it must be moved into the garden within 24 hours.

If you have questions, or would like help completing the form, call 311.

If you filled out a paper copy of the form, you can return to Boston City Hall - Room 714, Boston MA  02201.

Thank you for your interest, and your help in making Boston a green, healthy, and thriving Zero Waste City.

Mayor Michelle Wu
