MASSACHUSETTS LEADERS SIGN ON STATEMENT FOR THE WOMEN’S MARCH ON WASHINGTON – MASSACHUSETTS CHAPTER
We, the majority of the American people, find this truth to be self-evident: great societies are built on the foundation of equality, tolerance and justice for everyone. Excluding or persecuting any one group places us all at risk for the slippery slope of intolerance and tyranny. Therefore, we stand together in solidarity with our partners, friends, and children for the protection of our rights, our safety, our health, and our families -- recognizing that our vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our country.

The rhetoric of the past election cycle has insulted and threatened many of us. The Women’s March on Washington Massachusetts Chapter seeks to unite women and allies across social, cultural, religious, political and economic identities to demand justice. We are guided by our commitments to:
• Women’s Rights – Women’s rights are human rights.
• Intersectionality – We commit to being cognizant of the interconnected nature of social categorizations while striving
to eliminate systems that discriminate against or disadvantage women.
• Community Focus - We actively unite women across social, cultural, racial, religious, political, and economic
communities in fighting for the rights of all women.

In the spirit of democracy and honoring the champions of human rights, dignity, and justice who have come before us, we join in diversity to show our presence in numbers too great to ignore. We stand together, recognizing that defending the most marginalized among us is defending all of us.

We, the undersigned, stand with the Massachusetts Chapter and will not rest until women have parity and equity at all levels of leadership in society. Women’s rights are human rights.
We work peacefully while recognizing there is no true peace without justice and equity for all.
