Dynamic Plenaries
In an effort to diversify the flow of presentations, delve deeper into subject content, and provide attendees with an opportunity to engage in topics at a more intimate level, we are designing our plenaries to be broken up into multiple parts for this yearās conference. Each plenary session will consist of a āFire Roundā followed by āBreak-Out Groupsā.
Fire Rounds will be facilitated in a similar fashion to a traditional plenary, with a mediator allowing each panel member 3 to 5 minutes to quickly and concisely speak to their specific subject matter within the plenary topic. The intention is to give audience members an overview of all of the subject matter within the larger plenary topic from which they can engage in further through break-out groups.
Each Break-Out Group will be facilitated by a Fire Round speaker, accompanied by up to 2 co-presenters who are experts in the sub-topic to guide a more intimate conversation. Break Out Groups will last roughly 45 minutes after the Fire Round. Ā
Plenaries:
Ā Ā Global Waste Crisis:
Ā Ā Ā - Food Waste
Ā Ā Ā - Plastic Pollution & Toxicity
Ā Ā Ā - Social Inequity & Accessibility (Social Justice/EJ)
Ā Ā Ā - Landfills, Incinerators, & Inefficient Waste Infrastructure
Ā Ā Ā - Planned Obsolescence and the Consumer Economy
Ā Ā Zero Waste Solutions:
Ā Ā Ā - Reuse and Repair
Ā Ā Ā - Business Innovation
Ā Ā Ā - Zero Waste Lifestyle
Ā Ā Ā - Community Engagement & Empowerment (on & off campus)
