Schools:
1) University Hill Elementary School (Mon, Feb. 17th, 12:30-3:30pm)
2) Sir Wilfrid Laurier Elementary School (Thurs, Feb. 20th, 12:30-3:30pm)
Dates & Times: The fairs (~3 hr each, including set up & clean up) will happen during Reading Week 2014 (February 17-21) during school hours (9am-3pm). The exact dates and times will be announced as soon as the schools have been confirmed. Volunteers may choose to attend one or both of the fairs.
Time Commitment: Planning will begin in January and all volunteers will be required to attend a mandatory orientation/planning session (1-2 hr long) where we will plan out the general logistics of the event together and discuss our booth activity ideas. After that, the volunteers are welcome to either use their own time or the scheduled meeting times to further plan the details for their booth.
General info/tentative plans:
*Targeting grades 5-7 students
*~5 booths per school, each a different health care profession
*2-3 volunteers at each booth representing the profession
*Volunteers from all professions will work together to plan activities for each booth that are interactive and informative for the kids. The activities must also be good representations of interprofessional as well as patient-centered care, and will revolved around a fictional patient with unknown medical condition(s).
*Students will be divided into small groups (~10 kids) & rotated around the booths
Once you have signed up, information regarding the interview and orientation will be sent to you.
