Mission: Building on Antioch University's LGBT Specialization in Clinical Psychology, which Dr. Sadownick founded and directed in 2016, this month's talk will provide the basics of what is gay-affirmative therapeutc approach. The talk will be joined by neuropsychologist Dr. Enrique Lopez, who currently teaches in the Chicago School of Professional Psychology doctoral program. Both men have been involved in the running of Colors LGBTQ Youth Clinic since its inception in 2011, and both sit on its board, with Dr. Lopez as the Chair. Gay Affirmative Psychology is a psychological perspective that emerges from the marriage of the unconditional postive regards derived from existential humanism with the Gay Liberation movement. Dr. Sadownick and Dr. Lopez integrate a psychoanalytical perspective that includes an honoring of the unconscious and of the soul from a healthy same-sex loving perspective.
