All Second Year/Sophomore students were initially be required to select and/or be assigned to spaces in LRH and/or FRH for Fall 2015. As new freshmen student housing applications/contracts increase for Fall 2015, reassignment invitations to the SYRI Townhouse Communities (Pennyroyal and Marigold Courts) will be extended to students who meet the criteria listed below. If the number of submitted freshmen housing applications/contracts do not support the need for additional residence hall spaces, it is highly unlikely that 2nd Year/Sophomore students will be reassigned to the SYRI Townhouse Communities. A lottery will conducted to determine the order of reassignment consideration. Stakeholders from the Living Learning Communities (Cap Honors, STARS, Necessary Steps, etc.) will be consulted, prior to the processing of any reassignments. Ultimately, final SYRI reassignment decisions will be made by DRL.
o Reassignments to the SYRI Communities (Pennyroyal and Marigold Courts), will be completed throughout the summer semester by invitation ONLY. Final reassignment notifications will be received no later than July 17, 2015.
o To live in an on-campus townhouse as a member of the SYRI Communities (Pennyroyal and Marigold Courts), each member of a group (Second Year/Sophomore students) must have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, no major policy violations, evidence of good citizenship as of the end of Spring 2015, and no member of the group can be on disciplinary probation (apartment restriction). Second Year/Sophomore students will only be allowed to live with other Second Year/Sophomore students in SYRI Townhouse Community designated units.
o If you select (or become assigned to) a space for which you are NOT eligible, based on Second Year/Sophomore student status, you will be reassigned. Also, based on the terms and conditions of the housing contract you electronically agreed to for 2015-2016: Residency Requirement: All single freshmen and sophomore students under 21, not residing with parent(s) or legal guardian(s), and having earned fewer than 60 credit hours in two (2) full years after completing High School are required to live on the UIS campus.
Please note, you will NOT be contacted prior to being reassigned. Reassignment requests cannot be canceled once they are accommodated, as your previous space will be immediately utilized for other reassignment requests.
