You all did a BRILLIANT job.
If your name is on the list above, congratulations!
More than likely, however, your name is not on this list. Guess what? You did a fantastic job and you're in the majority! 80 students tried out for these 27 roles. This is the biggest turnout we've EVER had!
I told those of you that came to callbacks that we are assembling a huge jigsaw puzzle and we have to go searching for the pieces. Casting this show was extraordinarily difficult because so many of you came to auditions and callbacks giving it your all. We were so impressed with your enthusiasm, preparedness, dedication and professionalism.
Ultimately, casting a show comes down to many factors. Those factors are different for each show. For example, the Von Trapp children must appear young compared to other actors about their age who are playing adults. We could go into more detail and, yes, we're willing to give you feedback on your audition if you like. However, you could say we're house hunting for a 3 bed/2 bath. You are all beautiful, character-filled houses but 2/2s and 4/3s are simply not 3/2s. There's nothing better about 3/2s and there's nothing wrong with 4/3s. It's just not what we're looking for this time. Next time around, we'll be looking for 2/2s, 4/3s and more.
We hope to see all you 5th, 6th and 7th graders next year!
