WMC Parent of Athlete Code of Conduct
Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old, they will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6
Parents are an essential part of our athletic programs at WMC. It is our hope to partner with parents to create positive educational opportunities for families in which we can further promote God's Kingdom.
This is how parents demonstrate their witness: (please check each box to indicate read)
Positively support teams from sidelines: no coaching, jeering, booing, etc
Recognize and appreciate skills regardless of team or individual
Welcome visitors, demonstrating hospitality
Model Christlike behavior, grace filled, grateful, loving, honesty, to others at athletic events
Reduce the pressure for your student athlete rather than increase it
Release your child to the coaching staff: trust the judgement and decisions of the coaching staff and follow proper channels of communication when problems arise. 1st - Player to coach, 2nd parent/player with coach, 3rd parent/player with coach and Athletic Director, parent/player with principal
Prepare for an honest evaluation when asking coaches about performance issues
Recognize that the school and coaches they have hired, have the best intentions in mind for student athlete
Picking up child on time, providing help in concessions, taking tickets and being willing to help with transportation
Holding your child accountable for meeting academic requirements, turning in uniforms and equipment in a timely manner, and following the Warrior Athletic Code
Observing the 24 hour rule of not contacting a coach until 24 hours after an athletic event
Paying the participation fees ($50 first sport, $25 second, 0 third, $125 family max)
Understanding that failing to follow the parent contract could result in parents being suspended from athletic events and could impact student participation.
