Prince George's County Public Schools International Baccalaureate Program Application 2014-15

Prince George's County Public Schools is pleased to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, an academically challenging and balanced course of study that prepares students for success at college and life beyond. Before filling out this application please research information on the programs in PGCPS through the PGCPS website or the 5 IB schools (Central, Crossland, Laurel, Parkdale, and Suitland). You must complete the entire application and forward all documentation to be considered for admission. Please note the number of seats available in the program is limited and submitting an application is no guarantee of admission.

To complete the application, your transcripts and 3 teacher recommendations must be electronically submitted to academics.ib@pgcps.org. Incomplete applications or late applications will not be considered.

    Part 3 - Grade Reports

    Instructions - After you complete the online application you need to request that your Guidance Counselor submit your Seventh Grade report card and your Eighth Grade report card showing the first semester grades (quarter 1 and quarter 2). Your Guidance Counselor will also need to provide any documentation for academic accommodations, if necessary. All grades should be accessed by your counselor, scanned, and emailed to academics.ib@pgcps.org (place the students name in the subject line) DEADLINE for receipt of all grades is MARCH 12, 2013.

    Part 4 - Personal Statement

    Please write your personal statement in the space provided. You should write no more than a paragraph. This should be an original response done without editing by another person. Students may be required to sit for a writing sample upon provisional acceptance to the IB Program at the school level.

    Part 5 - Teacher Evaluations

    Instructions - After you have submitted your electronic application including your Personal Statement, you should request your 7th grade transcript and the first two quarters of your 8th grade transcript from your Guidance Counselor. Tell your guidance counselor the names of the three (3) teachers you will be requesting a recommendation from an English, Social Studies, Science, Math, or AVID teacher. Failure to notify your Guidance Counselor of the teachers will result in your application being delayed and possibly not admitted by the IB Office.
