Background of Spadina-Fort York Community Care (Spa-Fy CC)
At the beginning of the pandemic, MPP Chris Glover and a local resident, Shauna Harris, began delivering food to vulnerable residents, seniors and people without homes. This initiative has grown into the Spadina-Fort York Community Care Program (@spafycc) with Shauna as the Director. The program now provides food to about 1,000 people a week, including a program for the Older Women's Network Coop and the Performing Arts Lodge in the St Lawrence area.
Because so many people are having trouble registering for vaccines, the program is now helping people register for their vaccines. The community care program needs drivers, food sorters, sandwich makers and assistants for the vaccine registration. Some of the work can be done from home. If you wish to be a sandwich maker, you can make them at home and we can have someone pick them up.
