On February 8th, young activists will speak on their experience fighting the destruction of mountaintop removal coal mining (MTR) in the mountains of Appalachia.
In light of the recent chemical spill in West Virginia, come connect the dots between MTR and the devastating health impacts of decades of poisoned water on Appalachian communities. Don't miss first-hand accounts of organizing in the coalfields, or of Hands Off Appalachia's current campaign to end financial support from Swiss investment bank UBS for coal companies that engage in MTR.
Please join us for an afternoon presentation with a Question & Answer session, and reception. Admission is free and open to the public.
