Room Reservation Form

Common spaces are available to residents and their guests 24 hours a day, seven days a week; however, there are several spaces that can be reserved by residents of Teachers College housing for private meetings, social gatherings etc.

Spaces that may be reserved include the following:
Whittier Cafe - Whittier Hall (1230 Amsterdam Ave)
Whittier 10th Floor Television Lounge - Whittier Hall (1230 Amsterdam)
Whittier Conference Room (1D) - Whittier Hall (1230 Amsterdam)
Spaces are able to be reserved Sunday through Thursday: 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 a.m.

New Hall Television Lounge/Kitchen - New Residence Hall (517 West 121st)
LIMITED AVAILABILITY
Space is able to be reserved Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 a.m. and Sunday 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m,
Monday through Thursday 7:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. and Friday 7:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m.

**Instructions: Residents wishing to reserve a space should complete this form in its entirety and submit it to the Office of Residential Services a minimum of three business days prior to their event. Requests are reviewed on an ongoing basis during each business day. All requests are subject to space availability.

**Residents will be sent a calendar invite as a confirmation of their reservation. If your requested room is not available, you will be notified via email. To cancel a room reservation, please call the Office of Residential Services at 212.678.3235. Thank you!

    Room Reservation Guidelines

    *Space is available for occupants of Teachers College housing and their guests ONLY. *Residents MUST submit a room reservation form (Google form) a minimum of three business days prior to the start of the event. *Time frame: Whittier spaces are able to be reserved Sunday through Thursday: 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 a.m. New Hall Television Lounge/Kitchen - New Residence Hall (517 West 121st) has new hours starting Spring 2015: Space is able to be reserved Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 a.m. and Sunday 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m, Monday through Thursday 7:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. and Friday 7:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. *If alcohol will be served at the event, the following must be adhered to: --Alcohol, including possession of open containers, may only be consumed in private residential units, residential lounges and residential courtyards. --Persons under the age of 21 are prohibited from possessing and consuming any alcoholic beverages in any location of any residence hall. --Resident is responsible for ensuring any guests, including family members and other students, are over the age of 21 before allowing them to possess or consume any alcoholic beverages. --Resident who is hosting parties/events, for which more than 8 other people are present, is responsible for having one responsible host to ensure that all consuming guests are doing so responsibly and are over the age of 21. --Receiving money or any other exchange for any alcoholic beverage at any time in any location in any residence hall is strictly prohibited. --Participating in activities that facilitate or promote the rapid, dangerous, and/or forced consumption of alcohol (i.e. drinking games) is prohibited. *Under no circumstances should residents tape fliers, decorations, posters, etc. to the walls or windows of any of the common area spaces listed on this form. *The resident requesting the space must remain for the entire duration of the event. S/he will ultimately be responsible for any missing furniture or damage to the space. *Departmental meetings and functions, other than those sponsored by the Office of Residential Services, may not be held in these locations. *Residents are not permitted to play musical instruments in any common area space. *Noise levels should be monitored at all times. Should an event become disruptive, CA staff and Public Safety staff have the right to terminate an event. *Common areas should be kept clean and left in their original condition prior to the start of the event. At no time should furniture be added or removed for use elsewhere. Facilities will not accept work orders to remove/add furniture from/to common areas. *Individuals under the age of 18 may not be unaccompanied in any common space in New Residence Hall or Whittier Hall. *If an event is closed or private, the resident hosting the event should post a notice of the door of the requested space (using blue painter’s tape). *Residents, affiliates and guests must abide by all policies and procedures. Individuals found violating any of the aforementioned policies or the Guide to Campus Living will be referred to the Office of Residential Services judicial process and consequences may include cleaning/set-up fees from $50 upward.
