Inderkum Chapter of National Honor Society
Guidelines and Expectations
1. All new members must be in attendance and formally initiated into the Inderkum Chapter of the National Honor Society. Initiation: May 21, 2015. All continuing Members will have their membership renewed upon dues payment and receipt of a signed member contract.
2. All members must pay annual dues to be considered active status. New members will pay $20 initiation dues. Continuing members will pay annual renewal dues of $10.
3. Members in National Honor Society will be expected to network with each other via weekly posts/updates on our website:
inderkumnhs.wix.com/inderkumnhs. Opportunities for participation and service hours will be presented on the website. Weekly service meetings and related activities will be held after school and some Saturdays. It is the members responsibility to make arrangements to complete their required service hours.
4. Monthly Chapter meetings are mandatory unless there is a prior arrangement. Missed meetings will only be excused if you have an 8th period class or an athletic activity. Hour logs for each month must be turned in at each following monthly meeting to receive credit. If you are absent, your log must be signed by your advisor/ coach or instructor to verify your attendance.
5. Scholarship: Membership in the National Honor Society is contingent upon continued scholarship and academic integrity- both current and overall grade point average must be 3.0 or above. Grade checks will be performed regularly. Those students whose grades fall below a 3.0 will be dismissed from NHS.
6. Leadership: As students in NHS are the academic leaders for all students at Inderkum High School, they must consistently demonstrate a high level of character via their actions and words both in and out of the classroom. They must actively seek out opportunities to head committees and take initiative to lead projects both in and out of National Honor Society.
7. Service: All members must complete a minimum of ten service hours (or more) per semester promoting the academic culture of Inderkum High School. Avenues for obtaining these service hours will exist within our organization.
8. Character: Members in the National Honor Society are the leaders of Inderkum High School. Any suspensions/expulsions/referrals and/or poor academic conduct will result in your dismissal from NHS. Once you are dismissed, you may not reapply, attend any meetings, and you may not represent NHS in any way.
