Hardship funds are intended to provide short-term financial assistance directly to PSU Veteran students:
- who are experiencing financial hardships which
- disrupts their ability to successfully continue their education.
These funds are intended to help keep Veteran students in school by meeting immediate financial needs which might otherwise cause the Veteran to discontinue their enrollment at PSU.
Before you get started:
- Hardship funds are taxable.
- Report hardship fund payments as income when you file income taxes.
- Hardship fund recipients must provide the appropriate IRS form prior to payment being issued.
Method of payment and taxation is determined by your residency status:
- US Citizens and Resident Aliens: Payments will be issued directly from the PSU Foundation. These payments are taxable income, but TAXES ARE NOT WITHHELD at the time of payment.
- Non-resident aliens: payments will be processed by PSU and charged to the VRC's Foundation Index, and are taxed at the time of payment.
If you have any questions or difficulties with any of the forms or direct deposit sign up, please email
