From the heart of our city and in the spirit of our community the Rail Yards Market will take place from 10am-2pm every Sunday during May-October.
The Rail Yards Market's mission is to celebrate the cuisine, culture, and art of Albuquerque and the State of New Mexico. Our commitment is to:
- Preserve the legacy of and collaborate with the historic downtown neighborhoods.
- Gather the city's many communities around a shared space with local food, art and music.
- Nurture the next generation of local entrepreneurs.
- Create a dynamic hub for Albuquerque's agricultural and artisanal communities.
- Promote the knowledge and preservation of New Mexico's heirloom crop varieties.
- Promote tourism by providing Albuquerque with a must-see destination in the heart of downtown.
- Demonstrate one of many potential uses for the Rail Yards site.

Location: The Albuquerque Rail Yards, Blacksmith Shop (23,000 sq feet) located off of 1st street & Hazeldine
Hours of operation: 10:00am-2:00pm every Sunday during May-October and one weekend in February for the Valentine Market and one weekend in December for the Holiday Market
Venue/Space: The Rail Yards Market was held in the venue throughout the Summer, and was well attended; ranging from 2000-8000 visitors/day. With roughly 23,000 square feet of space, the Blacksmith Shop will host 60+ vendors, and is almost exactly the same size as many world-famous public markets, including La Boqueria in Barcelona, The Source in Denver, and the Grand Central Market in downtown Los Angeles. A major focus of the Rail Yards Market is our dedication to education and entrepreneurialship. At the market each week there are dedicated spaces, or "zones" for talented presenters like you to share their work and process with the community. We have 2 interactive educational zones as follows:
Children’s Zone: Educational games, stories, craft projects, music and other fun activities for kids and families
STEAM Zone: Live demonstrations of art and educational activities including workshops and presentations that cover a variety of topics including cultural and traditional crafts, sustainability practices, and gallery displays. Our STEAM stands for Sustainable, Traditional, Educational, and Artistic modalities! This zone features and rotates many demonstrations including weaving, sculpting, painting, crafting, gardening, and more! We seek educators who have an interactive setup for education, and especially love innovative ideas and traditional art forms.
Please submit receipts for reimbursement two weeks before your scheduled day. ( $50 limit )
