This year we intend to meet in person (though we will have to follow guidelines to protect health and safety of participants). All participants must have proof of up to date standard immunizations including vaccination against Covid-19, and we will follow all recommended guidelines of the CDC and NY DOH and DOE. There are no religious exemptions for immunizations.

Summer Institute participants must attend a public school in New York City (with occasional exceptions), be twelve to seventeen years old, and not have graduated from high school. The application process consists of a simple written application, and attendance at a one-hour session with the Director of the Institute, and the other applicants, where we play games, and talk about the Institute, on

The Summer Institute typically accepts fourteen students. Participants are invited to return every year until they graduate from high school. Applicants are selected based on the program's needs and selection is made with thoughtful consideration of the group dynamic and attention to diversity (of gender, race, ethnicity, age, theatrical experience, and other factors). Creating a balanced group may change from year to year based on who returns from the previous summer. We especially seek students from low-income families and those who do not have access to strong arts programming in their schools or through other extra-curricular programs.

No prior performance experience is required.

Debido a la epidemia de Covid-19, realizaremos el Summer Institute en línea, totalmente remota. A todos los estudiantes que no tengan una computadora o tableta con cámara y micrófono integrados se les prestará un dispositivo para el programa.

Los participantes del Summer Institute deben asistir a una escuela pública en la ciudad de Nueva York, tener entre doce y diecisiete años y no haberse graduado de la escuela secundaria.
