Alex Fairlamb @lamb_heart_tea Educational Consultancy

Alex Fairlamb is a History teacher and Senior Leader in charge of Teaching and Learning, CPD and Secondary Literacy based in the North East.

She is an Specialist Leader in Education and an Evidence Leader in Education who has worked with a broad range of schools nationally.

Alex is available to work with your organisation on Fridays.

History Curriculum and Pedagogy

Alex has a wide variety of specialisms, including as former Lead Practitioner of History and her role as a proud member of the Historical Association Secondary Committee. Her experience encompasses KS1-5 History curriculum development and key subject areas include Black British history, women’s history, disability history, the Kingdom of Benin as well as Edexcel GCSE topics (Cold War, Weimar and Nazi Germany, History of Medicine, Crime and Punishment, and Early Elizabethan England) and AQA A Level Russian-Soviet history.

Alex has a strong commitment to ensuring that curriculums are diverse and has significant experience of presenting on and working with schools about decolonisation and EDI.

Teaching and Learning

As a Senior Leader with seven years experience of leading T&L, Alex has developed T&L within her own schools and worked with schools nationally to develop their practice. Key areas include formative assessment and feedback, scaffolding, metacognition and retrieval.

Literacy

Alex also specialises in secondary literacy, in particular reading and disciplinary literacy. Alex has presented for the Research Schools Network and the EEF on Literacy and has extensive experience writing about literacy.

She is also an NPQLL facilitator for Ambition Institute.

Published Work

Alex is co-editor of ‘What is History Teaching, Now?’ and an OUP textbook author, co-authoring ‘Fight for Rights’

She is currently writing a book on scaffolding with Rachel Ball for InnerDrive
