MRE - FIRST LEGO League Teams are Forming    (FIRST = For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology)
In the light of the current pandemic, there is uncertainty when the next season will start. Nevertheless, we want to be ready by the time an announcement will be made regarding the next season. We will follow California guidelines and law and we will not start the school league unless it is 100% safe for all of us –students & parents– to hold practices and attend tournaments.
As a parent, if you don't know what First Lego League is, please read all the information below or visit
If your child is interested in becoming a part of this great team that will discover, innovate, and have fun, please fill out the form on the next page.

DEADLINE to send the form is June 1, 2020.

Young innovators practice imaginative thinking and teamwork. FIRST® LEGO® League focuses on solving real-world problems using STEM concepts, plus a big dose of fun. With the guidance of two or more coaches, teams design, build, and program a LEGO® MINDSTORMS® robot, then compete on a themed table-top playing field. Along their journey, students develop critical-thinking and team-building skills, build STEM self-confidence, and gain valuable perspective on the importance of failure in the learning process.

Q: Who can participate?
A:  2020-2021 4th and 5th Graders.

Q: What does MRE need to keep the program running?
A: MOST IMPORTANTLY... VOLUNTEERS!! We cannot form teams without more coaches. Don’t have engineering experience? No problem, the coding is made for kids!! While it may take a bit of figuring out, it is not that difficult and what is most important is the desire to work with kids and help them to be passionate about the process!! There are a ton of YouTube videos to help guide the coaches.

Q: What do I need to do to have my child participate?
A: Fill out this form before June 1st. If we can't get at least 4 coaches, we will not be able to form teams regardless of interest level.

Q.  How much does it cost?
A.  FIRST Lego League is financially supported by participating families and other donations.  2020 fees have not yet been determined but, for reference, Miramar Ranch 2019 participants paid $150 per student.  Fees help to fund program materials and expenses and are non-refundable.
