*If you submit work to nymph(o) Magazine, you are identifying yourself as part of the LGBTQ+ community. This is important to acknowledge to keep a safe space for the community and give a platform to queer artists. Please do not submit work if you do not identify as LGBTQ+. Thank you!
nymph(o) is a print magazine that educates a contemporary generation of LGBTQ+ people on current social issues facing the queer community in the Cincinnati/NKY community and beyond, aiming to combat hate by focusing on examples of community-led, action-based change. Created through a sex-positive method, nymph(o) is also an investigation into the historical and contemporary ways that sexuality intersects with the larger fight for queer liberation. No change will be worthwhile if the queer population can not be assured in the safety of their bodies and sexuality.
However, in a world witnessing escalating violence against marginalized populations, it's crucial to recognize that nothing occurs in isolation. Queer, trans, Black, Palestinian, disabled, and other communities all navigate parallel systems of domination. These intersecting populations are united not by identical goals, but by their shared pursuit of a world free from oppression. By fostering collective solidarity, we pave the way for genuine and lasting change.
The theme of this issue of nymph(o), inspired in part by Civil Rights leader Fannie Lou Hamer’s famous quote: “Nobody’s free until everybody’s free,” is freedom. What is it? How do we envision it? How long does it take to get there?
Using the above statement as inspiration, submit a pitch for a story you'd like to report on. This may be about current forces of domination impacting freedom (such as ongoing violence against Palestinians, the rise of fascism in the U.S., grassroots movements and their methods of social change, direct actions being held across the country, interviews/lessons with contemporary change-makers, etc.). If your pitch is chosen, nymph(o) Magazine will work with you to make this pitch come to fruition.
*Pitches will be open through April 1st. You will be contacted whether your pitch is selected for nymph(o) or not, but please be patient. We review submissions on a rolling basis but often do not decide on final pitches for several months.
NYMPH(O)’S MISSION:
nymph(o) is a print magazine that educates a contemporary generation of LGBTQ+ people on current social issues facing the queer community in the U.S. and beyond, aiming to combat hate by focusing on examples of community-led, action-based change. Created through a sex-positive method, nymph(o) also celebrates diverse expressions of sexuality and gender through visual art and writing. Holding space for a wide array of possibilities outside of a binary norm becomes an investigation into the historical and contemporary ways that sexuality intersects with the larger fight for queer liberation. No change will be worthwhile if the queer population can not be assured in the safety of their bodies and sexuality.
