This position requires a support engineer with great technical skills, coupled with the softer abilities you would come to expect from a competent manager. It will involve customer service, technical support, as well as some network administration.
The main crux of the role will be based around making our customers "feel the love", with an emphasis on being super-proactive and having an insatiable appetite for providing great customer service. The support engineer will also be expected to be able to fend for themselves in a Windows Server environment.
As the incoming support engineer, you will have superior communication skills and exceptional knowledge and ability in the following technical areas:
- Microsoft Windows desktop OS
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Accessing remote file servers and printers
- Desktop anti-virus and anti-malware software
You will have a great understanding on how to work in an environment with the following technologies:
- Microsoft Windows server OS
- VoIP (SIP)
- SQL Server Administration
Your ability to perform basic administrative tasks in the above technologies will be a huge plus (Exchange, SQL, DNS, ActiveDirectory, etc).
Skills in the following will also be an asset to you moving into this role and will be advantageous to your application (in no particular order):
- Linux Server
- Ubuntu Server
- WLAN management
- KVM (virtualization)
