RELEASE OF LIABILITY, WAIVER OF CLAIMS, ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND INDEMNIFICATION AGREEMENT
In consideration of being permitted to participate in any event or activity conducted by Harshaw Sports Club (the "Club"), I, the undersigned, hereby acknowledge, understand, and agree to the following:
1. ASSUMPTION OF RISK: I understand and voluntarily accept and assume all risks, known and unknown, inherent in shooting sports and any other Club activities, which could include property damage, personal injury, permanent disability, or death. I acknowledge that firearms and shooting sports are inherently dangerous and hazardous activities.
2. RELEASE AND WAIVER: I hereby fully and forever release, discharge, waive, and hold harmless Harshaw Sports Club, its officers, directors, members, employees, volunteers, agents, and affiliates (collectively, "Released Parties") from any and all claims, demands, liabilities, lawsuits, or causes of action (including for negligence) for any property damage, personal injury, or death arising from or in connection with my participation in Club activities.
3. INDEMNIFICATION: I agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Released Parties from any and all claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including attorneys’ fees) arising from my conduct during Club activities, including injury or damage caused to third parties by my actions or negligence.
4. SAFETY ACKNOWLEDGMENT: I understand that the Club requires the use of proper eye and ear protection for everyone in the shooting area and that failure to use such protection is at my own risk.
SAFETY RULES & ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Eye and ear protection is required for all shooters.
NO alcoholic beverages may be consumed until your shooting is complete.
Always treat every gun as if it is loaded. If you or others can see the hole at the end of a barrel, the gun is NOT pointed in a safe direction. Always keep firearms pointed in a safe direction (downrange)
Always check the chamber when picking up any gun to ensure it is UNLOADED.
Firearms must be unloaded (magazines removed, actions open) until at the firing line and the range is "HOT."
No handling firearms while others are downrange.
All guns should have the chamber closed ONLY when the gun is in the act of firing at the specified shooting station. Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
Never carry a gun over your shoulder with the barrel pointing behind you.
Only one shell in your shotgun unless you are shooting doubles or sporting clays.
Always turn to the right when moving from post 5 to post 1 on the trap range.
It is the shooter’s responsibility to dispose of any misfired shells. DO NOT place them in club trash.
You are responsible for picking up and disposing of your spent shells.
Members have authority and responsibility to ensure safety throughout the club.
The Harshaw Sports Club reserves the right to ask any shooter to immediately leave the club grounds
RANGE COMMANDS
🔴 "CEASE FIRE!" – STOP SHOOTING IMMEDIATELY and wait for instructions.
🔵 "COLD RANGE" – All firearms unloaded, actions open, and benched. No handling of firearms.
🟢 "HOT RANGE" – Confirm no one is downrange before shooting. Firearms may be loaded only at the firing line or station.
RESTRICTIONS
✔ No tracer, armor-piercing, or incendiary ammunition
✔ No shot larger than 7 ½ or shotgun shells loaded with more than 1 ⅛ oz shot
✔ No rapid fire (unless expressly permitted)
✔ No shooting over the berm. All rounds must stay within range confines.
✔ No ground shooting or cross-range shooting
✔ Shoot only at designated targets.
Note: In accordance with club bylaws, the Board may, by majority vote, revoke, deny, or refuse the renewal of any membership for good cause. See bylaws for further details.
