Why are you interested in joining the Neighborhood Flamekeepers?

*
(I.e., what most piqued your interest in our program description?)

Think of a time you supported someone else through human connection and emotional support. What did you do, what went well, and what would you change?

*

Think of an experience you've had volunteering. Why did you decide to volunteer? Upon reflection, what did you like most and least about it?

*

Describe a skill around human connection or emotional support you've tried to cultivate. Why were you drawn to growing that skill? What specific things did you do to work on it?

*
The mission of the SF Contemplarium is to "To create space in our neighborhoods to honor our human journey together." What about this mission excites you, and what about it would you explore changing? *
(By “human journey”, we mean the full experience of human life: our moments of joy, sorrow, transition, and everything in between. And by “honoring” our human journey, we mean giving such moments the care and respect they deserve – through a listening ear, a kind blessing, a supportive shoulder. You can read an updated explanation of our mission in our recent newsletter.)

What about the following community values excites you, and what about them would you explore changing?

*
As a community of ...
  • Learning, we seek growth and curiosity in our experiences and each other.
  • Support, we show care and compassion through our words and actions.
  • Service, we earn the privilege to serve others through conscientious, sincere, and joyful service.
  • Hospitality, we actively welcome, include, and foster safety in the spaces we create.
  • Openness & Courage, we show up with truth and integrity even when it isn’t easy.
  • Shared Leadership, we each contribute to our shared purpose.
  • Respect and Mutuality, we respect each others’ dignity as moral equals.

New Flamekeeper Cohort members are required to join a once-a-week Journey Group during the first 3-month season from late-May to mid-August. When would you typically be most available for a weekly session?

Which neighborhood do you call home? *
We no longer have a specific neighborhood focus, but for planning purposes it helps to know where people are coming from. Most of our activities are in-person in San Francisco. We have existing connections in Hayes Valley area but are open to exploring and branching out!
