It is an honor and a privilege to represent San Marcos High School, and the cheer candidate must accept considerable responsibility if she/he is selected for the program. In addition, you will also be committing to considerable time and support. If you allow your student to try out, please consider this commitment carefully and realistically. If your student is selected to be on a team, your support for the program and advisor/coaches will also be needed. While cheerleading has the potential of adding greatly to a student’s high school experience, it is vital that you help your student understand that cheerleading requires hard work and dedication as well. BOTH THE PARENT/GUARDIAN AND CANDIDATE NEED TO AGREE.

All participants are made aware that there will be frequent pictures and videotaping of practices performances. Participant’s signature on this contract permits videotaping and pictures of individual and group performances as well as their name to be published on the San Marcos High School website or any local news publication. Cheerleader candidate and parent understand that there is a chance of injury because this is an athletic event. All safety precautions as stated in the National Federation Handbook will be followed. I have read the information and give my son/daughter permission to be a candidate for the SMHS Cheer Team.

Please remember that this program runs an entire year, and all events, fundraisers, games, shows, playoff games, practices, etc. are MANDATORY. Dedication and priority are expected from all participants to ensure success and the maintenance of our program.

By acknowledging below, you agree to terms stated. As a cheerleader, and as a parent/guardian of a cheerleader, we have read through all of the information included in the SMHS Knights Cheerleading Accountability Act and agree to the terms set forth in the SMHS Knights CAA. We also understand that any athlete who fails to comply with these terms WILL result in immediate disciplinary action which could include suspension and/or termination: In the event that my child is selected for a team, I grant permission for my child to participate as a 2022-2023 San Marcos High Cheerleader. I have read and understand the rules, which will govern my child and agree to adhere to the Cheer Parent Code of Conduct and the Knights Cheerleading Accountability Act.
