The Plantory hosts an innovative and energizing coworking hub that fosters collaboration and nurtures growth for positive, passionate, and community-minded businesses and nonprofit organizations. The Plantory has incubated over 50 individuals and organizations in the last two and a half years, hosts multiple programs to support entrepreneurship and the nonprofit sector, and supports community collaboration by hosting over 1000 community members through meetings and workshops every month. Our staff is fun, but we work hard. As an intern, you'll be expected to work on your intern-specific projects, while contributing to the Plantory's daily operations (i.e. making coffee, stocking toilet paper, checking mail) just like our staff do. All of our positions require independence, internal motivation, hard work, and a good sense of humor.

MEMBERSHIP INTERN
- Organization: The Plantory hosts an innovative and energizing coworking hub that fosters collaboration and nurtures growth for positive, passionate, and community-minded businesses and nonprofit organizations. - Reports to: Executive Director, Angela Baldridge
- Description: The Membership intern will utilize problem solving, critical thinking, and creativity to assist Plantory staff with activities pertinent to support of organization membership. This intern will help strengthen the relationship between The Plantory and its members by staffing the shared reception desk and engaging with members. Additionally, the intern will research organizations and individuals that could potentially benefit from the services provided by The Plantory and assist with recruitment efforts. They will help facilitate new member onboarding, including giving tours. They will conceptualize and facilitate member engagement events like mixers, community lunch, project share, etc. The intern will also create assessments which help gauge member satisfaction and will help with exit assessments on departing members.
- Time commitment: Approximately 20 hours per week, some evening and weekends required

STORYTELLING WORDSMITH

- Description: The Storytelling Writer will tell the stories of the Plantory, our member, our clients, and social justice through words. The intern will develop written content for print and web, including blogs, social media, and press releases. They will collaborate with the Storytelling Imager to create the Plantory story, develop interview questions, and craft a compelling story for the public. The Storytelling Writer will work on other projects as assigned by Plantory staff. This project will also help The Plantory expand visibility to new funders, volunteers, clients, partner organizations, and the larger Lexington community.

PROGRAMMING INTERN

- Description: This internship will help support Plantory programming such as Grow 101, Get on Board, and Resident Expert Workshops. Using creativity and analytical thinking, the Programming intern will help develop curriculum, promotion, and program evaluation. Working with the Programming committee of the Board of Directors and Plantory staff, this intern will be part of the team that helps facilitate programs that are open to the public. They will need to employ research to find best practices for promotion of these events and will help shape the way program are evaluated.

VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT INTERN

- Description: The Volunteer Management Intern will assist with the recruitment, training and management of volunteers in order to aid the organization in its mission. The intern will assist with volunteer recruitment, communications, and program development. They will develop and maintain lists of potential volunteer groups and individuals, manage volunteer outreach using social networking tools such as Facebook, Twitter, Idealist.org, and Volunteermatch.com. Staff adequate numbers of volunteers for Plantory events and outreach opportunities like Thursday Night Live. Facilitate volunteer interviews to ensure good fit between organization and potential volunteer. Establish an infrastructure for the Plantory volunteer program, set goals, develop training and development opportunities.
- Time commitment: Approximately 20 hours per week, some evenings and weekends required

MARKETING INTERN

- Description: The Marketing intern is a dynamic self-starter who will assist with marketing and communication efforts. A large component of this internship will be working with storytelling interns to deliver content. They will draft, distribute, and pitch news releases, media alerts, and other stories. The Marketing intern will update the Plantory website when needed. They will design flyers, graphics, e-vites, and other marketing materials for major events hosted by The Plantory. They will assist with generate content for newsletters. They will collaborate with staff on new and innovative ways to help communicate the messaging of The Plantory effectively including new venues for marketing and communication. They will train staff on social media best practices and will sometimes assist Plantory members with marketing needs.
- Time commitment: 15-20 hours per week, some evenings and weekends required
- Qualifications:
Effective communication skills, ability to communicate in a professional manner with press and community contacts. Self motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines. Interest in social justice and enthusiasm for the mission of The Plantory
Skills: Firm grasp of available tools and social media platforms, working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel, proficiency in Adobe CreativeSuite, Knowledge of HTML and some graphic design a plus.
Education/experience: Pursuing degree in English, communication, public relations, journalism preferred

EVENT MANAGEMENT INTERN

- Description: The Event Management Intern will play an integral role in the planning, execution, and evaluation of the Plantory’s events including the Lauren K. Weinberg Humanitarian Awards, donor recognition events, Good Giving Guide Kick-off, and more. The intern will work with the board to plan quarterly fundraiser and assist with all aspects of event management, including theme selection, decorations, contracting, billing, creating marketing materials such as invitations, flyers, and press releases, sending thank you notes.
- Time commitment: 15-20 hours per week, some evenings and weekends required

TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT INTERN

- Reports to: Executive Director, Angela Baldridge
- Description: The Technology Support Intern will provide technical assistance and support to Plantory staff and members for network, hardware, and software issues. Duties include assisting members with wireless network access issues, providing network printer support, and providing support for access to Smartboard. The intern will also update technology management processes and develop check-out process for equipment. The intern will maintain all necessary network drivers.
- Time commitment: 15-20 hours per week, some evenings and weekends required
- Qualifications:
Personal: Attention to detail, collaborative, good listener, self-starter, communicates effectively, good at problem solving and research. Able to explain things in a way that people without a tech background will understand.
Skills: Windows XP/7 in a technical support environment. Experience with Windows 8 is a plus. Applicants must also have experience supporting recent versions of Microsoft Office Applications, including XP, 2003 and 2010. Experience with networking technologies and printer support is preferred
Education/experience: Must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate level degree with minimum of two years of college or trade school education in a computer related field.

MACRO SUPPORT INTERN

- Description: The Macro Support Intern supports all macro aspects of the Plantory's mission to support nonprofits. The intern will staff the shared reception desk and employ excellent customer service and problem solving skills to meet Plantory member needs. Their duties will include maintaining a clean work space, greeting and problem solving for members and their guests. They will help ensure that conference rooms are set up for meetings and events, connect members to help desk services, and support Plantory communications. The intern will

STRATEGY SUPPORT INTERN

- Description: The Strategy Support intern works with the director to support strategic development of the organization. They will work on projects related to board management, support building management, and help facilitate event planning. The intern will learn fundamentals of budgeting, fundraising, and programming development. This internship will include a nonprofit management component which will further the intern’s knowledge of organization development and strategy. The intern will also assist with staffing the shared reception desk, problem solving, and helping to support communications.
Time commitment: Approximately 20 hours per week, some evening and weekends required; this internship requires a year commitment

LAW AND TECHNOLOGY INTERN
- Organization: Clark Law PLLC is a law firm and technology startup based out of the Plantory. Clark Law uses technology and the Internet to increase access to justice and the court system for the citizens of Kentucky.  The firm’s first product, Unconvicted.com, is a web app that helps Kentuckians with low-level, non-violent crimes clear their criminal records and restore their civil rights.
- Reports to Brad Clark, Member and Attorney-at-Law.
- Description: Are you interested in law, business, social media, marketing, blogging, programming, or video production? Do you want to be a part of a social-minded, future-forward firm creating a new way to help people through the law? This educational internship will teach you the multi-disciplined nature of being a community-minded entrepreneur in 2016. You will have the opportunity to learn about a variety of technologies and help real people improve their lives at the same time.  You will learn about Adobe Creative Cloud, video production, Google Analytics and AdWords, and Facebook based marketing. You will also get to observe hearings in court, as well as assist in the creation of new Clark Law web products, either conceptually or technically. No programming experience is expected or necessary.
- Time commitment: about 15-18 hours a week.
