Dear Volunteer,

Thank you!! We're so grateful for you considering our organization as a volunteer platform to help others. At Paragon Service Dogs we believe in the transformative power of volunteerism and the positive impact it can have on both individuals and communities.

There are many avenues in which you can support the mission of Paragon Service Dogs. This application is for anyone interested in Puppy Raising, Puppy Sitting, or being a Weekend Dog Companion for one of our dogs in advanced training. If you are not interested in hosting a dog in the program at your home, but still want to be involved with out program, please fill out the relevant application for onsite volunteers on our website. Thank you for your interest and we appreciate your support in whatever way makes sense for you.

Onboarding Process
  The onboarding process ensures a smooth transition for you into our volunteer community. Here's an outline of what this process entails:

1. Application: Complete the form below. Once the form has been filled out, we will follow up with an email letting you know we received your application. 

2. Initial Interview: We will conduct a brief Meet and Greet interview where we discuss volunteering at Paragon and get to know one another and ensure this will be a good fit! 

3. Background Check: Next in the onboarding process we ask all volunteers to conduct a background check ($20 fee) and we also contact character references. 

4. Home Visit: The next step for any volunteer that will be hosting a Paragon Dog in their home is a brief home visit. The visit will mostly be ensuring the home is a safe environment for our dogs, but we will also discuss all the ways a Paragon Pup will fit into your unique home. 

4. Orientation and Tour the Facility: Lastly, you'll attend an orientation session to learn more about our organization's mission, values, and volunteer opportunities. You will receive important information regarding safety protocols, expectations, and guidelines for the various volunteer roles. You will also be able to meet some of the dogs in the advanced stages of training, possibly see their alerts, and see our beautiful place.

Things to Consider

These puppies are all service dog candidates and you, as a Puppy Raiser, are expected to uphold Paragon's training, guidelines, and procedures. If you are found not following Paragon's guidelines, training, and/or procedures, Paragon reserves the right to terminate you from the Puppy Raising program.

Paragon staff will make all decisions regarding placement, acceptance into the hearing dog program, training, feeding, care, and medical treatment of all puppies being raised.

Paragon retains ownership of the puppy in a Puppy Raiser's care.

A Puppy Raiser may be asked to return the puppy to Paragon at any time.

Our pups in training are not permitted to go to dog parks. Violation of this rule will result in termination from Paragon’s Puppy Raiser program.

Paragon does not make any guarantee relating to the animals' health, temperament, behaviors, or actions.

Paragon is not responsible for any property damage or personal injury suffered by you, members of your household, including your own animals or any third parties. It is the Puppy Raiser's responsibility to provide adequate controls to prevent such damage or injury.

As the puppies grow and learn, the variety of possible venues will grow as well. However, it is important that puppies are only exposed to settings and experiences that they are developmentally prepared to take part in. Consequently, you can only have the Puppy in Training accompany you to places and experiences pre-approved by the Paragon staff.
