This go-at-your-own-pace online course is designed to teach you the basics of medical billing and coding to get you ready to sit for American Allied Health Certification exam for either Certified Medical Biller and Coder (CMBC) or the Medical Coding and Billing Specialist ( MCBS).

This medical billing and coding course teaches students how to use medical billing and coding software, and how to apply medical terminology and codes to healthcare scenarios:

Medical terminology
Students learn about the human body's systems, structures, and functions, as well as common medical procedures and disorders
Coding
Students learn how to review medical records and convert information about diagnoses, procedures, and medications into codes
Billing
Students learn how to check claims, make sure they are paid, and resolve claim denials

Requirements:

There are no prerequisites required for this course.

This course does requires you to obtain your own coding manuals. You will need to obtain any AMA coding books.

this will need to include: PCT, ICD-10, and HCPCS manuals. These books are updated annually, please make sure they are current (you might be able to get 2025 books already.)

You also might be able to find USED 2024 books for discount prices.

There are subscriptions with AMA or AAPC that will allow you to get the updated books each year if that is something that interests you.

** please note that these books are not required immediately, you will have time to purchase one at a time if needed.**

Price break down of the course:

The total price of the tuition for this course is $800. this includes the $200 deposit required to start the course. This is nonrefundable.

*Payment plans are accepted, please contact instructor to arrange a written agreement for a payment plan that works best for you*

The required manuals needed (coding books) is around $100-$200 a piece, you will need to shop around.

The exam at the end of the course is $105. This will be paid directly to American Allied Health at the time of exam.
