Directions:
1. The following questions and passages are intended to help us divide the student body into relative levels. You cannot fail, unless you cheat. If you do, you’ll find yourself in a class that does not reflect your actual level. There is no need to be stressed. If your level placement is seems wrong, there will be opportunities to shift classes in consultation with your teachers.

3. Spend up to 1 hour on this test. If you haven’t finished as much as you could in that time, write OUT OF TIME and submit.
4. Answer the questions as fully as you can. If some or all of the passages seem outrageously difficult or overly easy, don’t worry – the whole point is to ascertain where you should be placed so as to maximize your learning.
