Please respond to each of three statements to confirm that you understand the commitment involved with serving on the MDIRSS Anti-Racism Task Force.
I understand that for the first iteration of the Task Force, initial appointments shall be made by a temporary appointment committee of the students, teachers, and community members. For all subsequent iterations of the Task Force, all appointments shall be recommended by a subgroup of the Task Force that includes at least one student representative. All appointments to the Task Force will be finalized by the Superintendent of Schools or an appropriate stand in. If at any point the application of a member of the Task Force or appointments committee is being considered, they will be asked to recuse themselves from the deliberations about the representatives of their stakeholder group. *
I understand that the MDIRSS Task Force will meet monthly during the 2023-2024 school year as decided by the Task Force. Task Force meetings may be virtual or in person. Meetings will typically last 1.5 hours but may be longer if the group decides this is needed for training, etc. All Task Force Members will also serve on subcommittees that may require work between meetings. *
I understand that as a member of the Task Force I will be participating in anti-racism training and should expect to be part of conversations where my own biases and understandings may be challenged. I understand that discussions that take place at meetings will be confidential and that a summary of each meeting (without personal attribution) will be made public. I understand that as a Task Force member I may be asked to gather feedback from stakeholders and/or to communicate with stakeholders. I understand that beyond sharing agreements derived through consensus, only the co-chairs are authorized to speak on behalf of the Task Force unless explicitly granted by the Task Force to members. *
I understand that this is a important commitment to supporting our cause of fighting against racism in our community.  I will put my best effort into making positive contributions to this group in moving the work forward as long as I am serving.
